Family Reflections:
One of our favorite smaller cities for sure! The lack of tall buildings is a plus.
Who knew watching lochs could be so fun?
The fries are amazing and the beer is top notch.
Love the holiday lights everywhere.
We could all spend a lot more time here, especially once the day tourists go home.
Out and About Bruges...
The hype is true...Belgian waffles are amazing!
Happy holiday times!
Go windmills! Only four remain in Bruges.
Apparently, public urination by men in Dutch/Flemish speaking places (like Amsterdam), men will just pee anywhere, so they've installed numerous outdoor urinals to help (flash forward, many men end up in the canal in Amsterdam due to this issue).
Found hundreds of dragons!
The Belfry of Bruges
Duvel beer away! Although, we both loved the Bruges Zot beer more.
Happened upon this happy wall.
It's an old pigeon house topper!
Best houses along canals ever! The kids were ready to buy and move here.
I'm in love with tree pruning here, and around Europe.
This was our fun mechanics of lochs lesson. Watched two ships pass through with all the glory of loch gates opening/closing, water flooding/draining, bridges raising/lowering...who knew it'd be this intriguing!
The Market Square
The Historium Bruges
A little old meets new...VR experience in the historium.
Super fun 4D audio tour, immersing us in the history of the people, trading, and market square of the past.
The Torture Museum
This place was hard to take in at moments. It's a small museum, but packs a wallop for sure. We learned a lot in here and were also disgusted by the many tortuous contraptions humans invented.
The Pillory
People (and the inventor himself eventually) were tortured in this metal stove bull...their cries would sound from the mouth to heed warning to others.
Rosary Quay (aptly named for the rosaries made and sold here)
The Walking Light Festival
Phoenix Rising
Jan van Eyck (famous painter) statue lit from afar.
Fire and Ice
